Fundraising
The Friends of Scouting Campaign is a major portion of the Scouting budget. Scouting families have always been a major portion of this fundraising drive. Every year Scouting families contribute generously to support Scouting programs. During the next couple of months, you may be asked to consider making a gift to Scouting. Here is how you can help:
As a unit leader you will be asked to provide about ten minutes at a pack meeting or a troop court of honor in the next couple of months to allow a Scouting representative to make a short presentation. If you have not already been contacted, you will be shortly. Your help in making this time available is vital to this effort.
As parents, review the presentation at your unit meeting and consider your support. It takes about ninety-five dollars to keep a boy in Scouting for one year. Your contribution in any amount will insure that more young people will benefit from Scouting programs this year.
Your support through the Friends of Scouting Campaign will help the Blackhawk Area Council continue its mission to provide the best possible program for your son and other youth.
A James E. West Fellowship is a recognition given for a cash gift of $1,000 or more to a local council endowment fund. James West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the BSA, serving in that capacity for more than 30 years.
The annual earnings from the trust are used to support council operations or specially designated projects such as camperships, scholarships, or camp development.
If you are interested in learning more about the endowment fund or the different ways you can support the scouting program through estate plans, contact Wayne Brooks at the council service center, 815-397-0210, ext. 112.

Membership in the Boy Scouts of America plays a major role in shaping lasting values and the use of these values in daily life. Take a stand on teaching character and integrity to the young people of our country by making a contribution to your local council today.
It's the smartest investment you can make, an investment in the greatest asset America has—its children.
