Calling all Sleuths!

The Wetassa District, Blackhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is hosting a murder mystery dinner party and you’re invited! The get-together will take place at the Four Seasons Banquet Facility, Freeport, IL, at 6:30 PM, Thursday, March 25th. The cost is $40 per person or $75 per couple. You will play a role, dress accordingly, and will be sleuth, suspect, or both. The evening includes a full course meal as well as the planned entertainment. Book early in order to choose the character you’d like to play and get the “skinny!” Although this is a “clean” party, we recommend “adults only.”

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

It has been a year since the Paramount Casino has changed ownership and Ronald Trump, the new owner, is ready to celebrate! As the largest and most extravagant casino on the Las Vegas strip, The Paramount Casino is throwing a party of epic proportions. With the highest rollers and the gutsiest gamblers, the stakes are going to be high and there is no limit to what could happen.

Everyone who is anyone in Vegas is sure to be in attendance for this grand event. >From the high rolling hotel guest to the sensational showgirl, the cunning cocktail waitress to Elvis himself– the guest list is as unlimited as the possibilities of how the night will end. Like everything else in Vegas, the party will be a gamble and there is no certainty to the events of the evening. Whose secrets will be exposed? Which lies will be uncovered? And who will fall victim to the lawlessness of the night? Your bet is as good as mine.

Be prepared for a sinister evening in a city known for its secrets and its scandal.

Please RSVP to Cheyann Thunberg (cthunberg76 <at> hotmail <dot>com) or Bill Determan (billdeterman <at> tds <dot> net) with your mailing address, email address and phone number so we can get information on this fun night out as soon as possible.  BE PREPARED to have fun!!!!!

ADVENTURE BASE 100

Greetings to all!

Adventure Base 100 (AB-100) is coming your way soon!

An opportunity to experience the BSA national tour will be here, Saturday May, 1, 2010, 9am – 3pm.

Come and be prepared, (aren’t we all?), to help guide the visitors through a 10,000 square foot display full of BSA items and things.

Help people get to know what Boy Scouts is all about.

Some of the BSA history will be there for folks to view; a low ropes course is available for them to try out; the Go! Dome tent will give them a sense of camping in the outdoors.

What can you do to help?  Get the word OUT.  Let your units know we are seeking volunteers to help with this wonderful opportunity.

A bus has been charted for the event.  The early bird riders will be getting started from a spot in Rockford.  The route is then planned for a stop in Huntley, close to the tollway, for a 2nd pickup, then, onward to Douglas Park in Chicago!

Sixty, (60), volunteers are needed to make this day a success.  Interested?  Please contact:

Steve James  C 815 814 2271   email   ka9npt (at) joltmail.com         Thank you!

From the District Nominating Committee:

"I'm having a little trouble with this Nominating Committee thing. I've spoken with a couple of Scouters to help out but I'm hitting a dead end on whom outside of Scouting to ask to join us. And to me that's a really important part of this process,to enlist new members and not keep over burden the ones we already have. I truly want to do a good job at this and there lies my dilemma.
Any thoughts?

Always in Service...

Randy"
